Archi5, Montreuil France, 2017
Former industrial areas close to the city centres are under pressure of the housing market. Densifying these small scale urban fabrics on a plot by plot basis initiates new typologies that can be integrated in an existing context. This example from Montreuil uses an existing garden with large trees as a core around which new compact housing is organised. This strategy creates living qualities that are independent from unpredictable surrounding developments.
